Updates on the coverage people ask about most

Text updates and guides address a range of coverage, including the kinds described here.

  1. Individual and family health plans

Plans bought for yourself or your household, outside of an employer, typically cover doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions and preventive services. Updates may include enrollment period dates, what a plan's deductible and out-of-pocket maximum mean in practice, and notes on how networks often differ from one plan to the next.

  2. Supplemental health coverage

Hospital indemnity and accident cover typically pay a set cash benefit when a covered event happens, such as a hospital stay or an injury. These policies are often used alongside a health plan rather than in place of one. Updates may include how fixed benefits work, what a policy typically leaves out, and questions worth asking before you buy.

  3. Dental and vision coverage

Dental plans often cover cleanings and exams, with partial coverage for fillings and larger work, sometimes after a waiting period. Vision plans typically help with eye exams, glasses and contact lenses. Updates may include how annual maximums, waiting periods and provider networks usually work.

  4. Final expense coverage

Final expense coverage is a form of whole life insurance with a modest benefit, often used to pay for funeral costs and other end-of-life bills. Policies typically keep the same premium for life and may involve a short health questionnaire. Updates may include how these policies are structured and what to read closely in the contract.

Product availability, benefits, and eligibility vary by plan and by where you live.

Our approach

How text updates work

Short messages, written in plain language, sent to people who asked for them.

  3. You reply when something is unclear

Reply to a message with a question about a coverage term, a deadline or a change you have read about, and the answer comes back by text.

  4. You stop whenever you like

Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
